Bidding war in Kochi: Fancy vehicle number KL 07 DG 0007 fetches Rs 45 lakh

Kochi: Kochi: We’ve often heard of people spending lakhs to secure their desired or lucky vehicle registration numbers. In some foreign countries, bidding for such favourite numbers can even reach into the crores. A similarly intense auction took place in Kochi for a sought-after registration number, with bidding reaching extraordinary amounts under the jurisdiction of the Ernakulam RTO.

The number KL 07 DG 0007, up for auction under the Ernakulam RTO, saw fierce competition with the bidding escalating into lakhs. A total of five individuals competed for the number, each having paid an advance booking amount of Rs 25,000. After intense bidding, the fancy number KL 07 DG 0007 was finally sold for Rs 45 lakh. According to reports, the number was acquired by a private software company based in Infopark. However, it is not yet clear which vehicle will bear this registration.

Another highly priced registration number in the same series was KL 07 DG 0001. Four bidders entered the fray for this number after submitting an advance of Rs 1 lakh each. Reports state that it was eventually auctioned off for Rs 25 lakh. The number was secured for a vehicle owned by Thomson, a resident of Piravom, though details about the vehicle model are yet to be confirmed.
