Kochi: The Southern Naval Command has officially announced the sixth edition of the Kochi Navy Marathon (KNM 25), which will be held on 21 December 2025 at the K.K. Premachandran Sports Complex, near Kendriya Vidyalaya Port Trust, Willingdon Island. The event, part of the annual Navy Day celebrations, was launched during a curtain-raiser press conference in Kochi on 15 October 2025.

Event Overview

The Kochi Navy Marathon has evolved into one of Kerala’s most awaited sporting events, celebrating fitness, endurance, and community spirit. The 2025 edition will feature three race categories —

  • Half Marathon (21 km)
  • 10 km Run
  • 5 km Fun Run

The event aims to attract participants from all age groups, fitness levels, and backgrounds — from professional runners to families seeking a day of active celebration.

Vision and Message

Addressing the press, Commodore Sudhir Reddy, Commodore Superintendent of the Naval Aircraft Yard and Race Organiser, highlighted that the Kochi Navy Marathon is “more than just a race.”

He described it as a celebration of health, fitness, and camaraderie, designed to foster wellness while strengthening the bond between the Indian Navy and the local community.

Reddy emphasised that the marathon represents the Navy’s commitment to encouraging physical endurance, teamwork, and unity among civilians and naval personnel alike.

Participation and Community Involvement

The 2025 edition is expected to draw record participation from schools, colleges, corporate houses, and running clubs across Kerala and neighbouring states. Over the years, the Kochi Navy Marathon has built a reputation as a premier running festival, attracting both amateur and seasoned marathoners.

The organisers anticipate a vibrant turnout from fitness enthusiasts, students, and families, making the event not only a sporting competition but also a large-scale celebration of togetherness on the scenic shores of Kochi.

Promotional Events

In the lead-up to the main event, two promotional runs are planned for November and December 2025 at prominent locations in Kochi. These pre-marathon events aim to build momentum, spread awareness, and encourage wider community participation.
