Kochi: High Court Judge Devan Ramachandran on Monday criticized the Kerala Police and claimed that it is high time that they changed. He also said that the police should not feel that they are kings and should realise that the real kings are the citizens.

While speaking at an online meeting organized by the Kerala Police Officers' Association, the High Court Judge pointed out that there is a wrong assumption that the police force will be demoralized if an order is issued by the court to take action against the police. Justice Devan Ramachandran added that the police officials should have the courage to take strict action and replace the erring police officers.

“There is a need for the police force to change and there is no doubt over it. The only way to sustain that force is through change. For whatever reason, this force cannot move forward without change. That is possible when only the guilty are caught and innocents remain safe. It is wrong that only some police stations are Janamaithri stations. All police stations should be people-friendly,” he added.
