Kerala woman’s maiden flight journey piloted by her son who took dreams to new heights

Kasaragod: In a heartwarming story of dreams realised, P Siddharth, a 23-year-old Air India pilot, fulfilled a promise made years ago to his mother. Siddharth's mother, P Sindhu, had once consoled her young son, who cried for a toy airplane at the festival grounds, by saying, "Tomorrow, when you become a pilot, the plane will be yours." Although she forgot the words over time, Siddharth held on to the dream and made it a reality after 17 years.
As a child, Siddharth’s fascination with planes was apparent. His determination, combined with his mother’s encouragement, led him on the path to becoming an international pilot for Air India.
Sindhu’s first air trip in son’s flight
In an emotional moment, Siddharth’s mother flew on his plane for the first time. “My first air trip will be in the plane you will be flying,” she once said, watching her son fly a plane touching the clouds. Siddharth flew his mother and father, P Giridharan, from Kannur to Bahrain on a flight, marking a special milestone in their lives.
Siddharth’s journey to becoming an Air India pilot was inspired by the words of former President A P J Abdul Kalam. Kalam’s message of dreaming big resonated with Siddharth as he pursued his passion for aviation. One has to dream before it becomes a reality, Siddharth recalls, as his childhood dream came to life.
Today, Siddharth flies Air India’s 737 aircraft on international routes, including flights to destinations like Dubai, Sharjah, Kuwait, Qatar, Abu Dhabi, and Bahrain. He has been working as an international pilot for over a year, and his hard work and dedication have earned him recognition. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is one among the notable passengers whom he has flown.
Siddharth’s father is the Secretary of Chengala Cooperative Bank and his mother works as a teacher. His twin sister, P Geethika, is an MS student at the University of Texas in the United States.
