Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast continued rainfall across Kerala over the next five days, prompting the issuance of weather warnings for multiple districts.

IMD issues yellow warning

A yellow alert has been officially declared for Kottayam and Ernakulam districts on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.
 

Forecasters anticipate isolated heavy downpours in these regions. Under IMD guidelines, a heavy rainfall warning denotes an expected accumulation of between 64.5 millimetres and 115.5 millimetres of rain within a 24-hour period. Residents, particularly those in hilly and coastal areas, are advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions as the weather system develops.
