SIR deadline extended in Kerala; last date to receive enumeration forms is Dec 11

Thiruvananthapuram: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Kerala has been extended by a week. According to reports, application forms can now be submitted until December 11, and the draft voter list will be published on December 16.

The final electoral roll will be released on February 14, 2026. The SIR revision is applicable in 12 states and UTs, including Kerala.

Kerala Chief Electoral Officer Rathan U Kelkar had on Saturday said that concerns raised by political parties over the revised electoral roll following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) will be examined and resolved as per rules.

Speaking at a review meeting with party representatives, Kelkar said 2.78 crore enumeration forms have been distributed so far, and voters who return the signed forms will be included in the draft roll. If a person was not on the 2002 voters list but has submitted the enumeration form, the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) will decide whether to include or remove the name based on available records. Complaints by political parties will also be handled strictly according to guidelines, he added.

Kelkar said parties may submit details of eligible voters left out, and the names will be added after verification. The Election Commission of India has collected around 85 per cent of the forms, while 7.61 lakh are still pending in Kerala.
