In last 8 years, Kerala VACB received 3104 anonymous letters detailing corruption charges

Thiruvananthapuram: At least 15 per cent of complaints received by the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) in Kerala were found to be valid and necessitate further action.

Between 2016 and September 2024, VACB received 3,104 anonymous letters at their various offices via email and post, alleging bribery and illegal property acquisition against government officials.

After reviewing the complaints, 489 were deemed valid, leading to further action by the Vigilance. Officials noted that the increase in such anonymous letters reflects growing public awareness about reporting corruption and irregularities involving government officials.

Most Vigilance offices, except in Kasaragod, have received anonymous letters. The central regional office in Ernakulam recorded the highest number, with 407 complaints, of which 38 required further action. In two other VACB offices in Ernakulam, action was taken on 63 out of 432 complaints received.
