Kerala University mark scam: Police book case against section clerk

Thiruvananthapuram: The police have booked a case in connection with the score correction scam in Kerala University. A section clerk has been named as an accused in the case. 

The mark scam took place in the BSc Computer Science examination. Cantonment police charged offences including cheating cases against him.

It was found out that over 100 students were given pass marks by correcting the score of the BSc Computer Science final semester examination. Section clerk Vinod was suspended in connection with the incident. Cantonment police booked a case on the basis of the complaint filed by the university. Cases were charged against clerk Vinod for cheating and as per IT laws.

The university found out during a probe that Vinod collected money from the students to correct their scores. Following this, they filed a police complaint for a detailed investigation. The loopholes in the exam tabulation software were utilized for correcting the marks.

The score correction scam took place after the section officers were given authority to handle the passwords. The police will check if any other mark scams have taken place in the university. After the preliminary round of checking, further procedures including interrogation will be initiated.
