KSRTC introduces exclusive perks: Gift packs, free health checks, shopping discounts for passengers

Thiruvananthapuram: In an effort to make KSRTC bus travel more attractive, Kerala Transport Minister K.B. Ganesh Kumar has announced new initiatives for passengers, following the arrival of state’s most advanced buses.
As part of the new scheme, children travelling on long-distance, premium KSRTC buses will receive special gift packs for the next six months.
Each gift pack will include a colouring book, a box of colour pencils, a balloon with “I Love KSRTC” printed on it, tissue paper and five sweets. The program is sponsored by the company S-Cross, according to the minister.
Free cancer screening for women
The minister also announced that all female passengers travelling on KSRTC buses will receive free cancer screening. Women will get a coupon issued by KIMS Valiyath Hospital in Karunagappally, which will allow them to avail free screening. Follow-up treatments, including scanning and other necessary care, will be offered at 50% of the cost.
The scheme will initially cover women from Kollam and Pathanamthitta districts. For patients holding BPL (Below Poverty Line) cards or those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, hospitals have agreed to offer additional discounts on treatment. Other hospitals are expected to join the initiative soon.
Future plans for discounts on consumer goods
Minister Ganesh Kumar also revealed that KSRTC plans to offer coupons for discounts on items like TVs, refrigerators and mobile phones through partnerships with stores.
Passengers will receive a coupon that can be redeemed for a 10% discount at participating shops.
Talks are already underway with companies like MyG and Oxygen to implement this program.
