Kerala trains cancelled, diverted from Oct 4 for track work in Salem Division; Check list

Palakkad: The Palakkad Railway Division has announced major modifications, partial cancellations and route diversions for several key passenger and express trains due to ongoing track maintenance work across various sections of the Salem Division.


Short-termination and special train services

  • Palakkad Town – Tiruchchirappalli Passenger (16844): Short-terminated at Pugalur on October 6, 8, 10, 13, 15, 17 and 22.  On October 24, 27, 29 and 31 as well as November 3, the service will terminate at Kodumudi. Railway authorities confirmed that special train services will operate from Pugalur and Kodumudi to Tiruchchirappalli on these specified dates.
  • Shoranur Junction – Coimbatore Passenger (56604): Short-terminated at Podanur on October 5, 6, 10, 11, 13 and 17.
  • Coimbatore Junction – Shoranur Passenger (56603): On the same dates (October 5, 6, 10, 11, 13 and 17), this service will instead originate from Podanur Junction at 4.38 pm.
  • Kannur – Ernakulam Junction Express (16306): Short-terminated at Thrissur on October 16, 17, 18, 23, 24, 25, 27, 30 and 31, as well as November 1.

Route diversions via Podanur

  • Ernakulam – Bengaluru Intercity Express (16378): Diverted to run via Podanur Junction, skipping its regular stop at Coimbatore Junction, on October 4 and 15.
  • Alappuzha – Dhanbad Express (13352): Diverted to operate via Podanur Junction on October 4, 7, 8, and 15.
