Kerala to launch lottery tickets with fluorescent numbers to prevent frauds

Alathur: Lottery tickets with glinting numbers will be launched to save lottery sellers who are cheated by modifying serial numbers for minor gifts. The prize money upto Rs 500 are distributed by the lottery sellers themselves.
In the new lottery tickets, the prize amount, serial number and date will be printed in fluorescent letters. Hence, even if the fraudsters attempt to take a colour photostat to commit any fraud, the letters in the copy will not glitter as the original tickets. A security code and label, similar to currency notes, will be also embeded in the lottery tickets.
In most cases, the lottery sellers, who are very old, visually impaired or physically challenged are victims of lottery ticket frauds.
In view of the increasing lottery ticket cheating, awareness campaigns for the lottery sellers have commenced from the departmental-level. The experimental printing of the new tickets have already started and if found successful, the tickets will be launched instead of the existing kind of tickets, informed officials of lottery directorate.
