Kerala student found dead in Bengaluru hostel; family rejects suicide theory, alleges foul play

Bengaluru: A 19-year-old student from Kerala, studying at a private nursing college in Bengaluru, was found dead in his hostel room, police said on Friday.
The deceased, Adhityan P A, was a second-year student at a nursing college in Bommasandra. He hails from Aruvikkara in Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala.
On April 29, he was found hanging from a ceiling fan in his room. Police said he left behind a suicide note stating that no one was responsible for his death.
Preliminary probe flags possible mental health concerns
A preliminary investigation suggested that the student may have been suffering from depression. Police added that other possible issues are also being examined as part of the ongoing inquiry.
Officials said the circumstances surrounding the death are still under investigation, with no final conclusions drawn at this stage.
Father alleges foul play, cites prior hostel incident
According to police, the student’s father, Pradeep S, raised doubts about the circumstances of the death in his complaint.
"However, I firmly believe that my son would not have taken such a step. He was of good character and mentally strong. Therefore, I strongly suspect foul play in his death," he claimed.
He also referred to an incident around 20 days earlier, when his son told him that some hostel roommates were involved in drug use and had been caught by authorities.
"They were warned along with my son, although he was innocent and not involved in the incident. This situation may be relevant to the present case," he stated.
Case registered, investigation continues
The complainant has urged police to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation and take appropriate legal action.
Police said a case of unnatural death has been registered at Hebbagudi Police Station. Further investigation is under way, with all allegations being examined.
