Kerala receives 14 new trains in a year; 3 services extended

Chennai: Southern Railway has announced that 14 new train services were introduced through Kerala during the last financial year. Furthermore, three existing train services were extended. In addition, 23 new trains were launched from Tamil Nadu and 14 from Karnataka. Most of these services benefit passengers across multiple states, Southern Railway stated in a press release on Sunday.
The Vande Bharat Express from Bengaluru to Ernakulam, launched on November 8, was the major train started from Kerala during the 2025-26 financial year. On January 23, 2026, the Tambaram–Thiruvananthapuram Amrit Bharat Express commenced operations. The other new services include the Charlapalli–Thiruvananthapuram Amrit Bharat Express, Palakkad–Pollachi MEMU, Shoranur–Nilambur MEMU, Guruvayur–Thrissur Passenger, Ernakulam–Velankanni Express, Nagercoil–Mangaluru Amrit Bharat Express, Mangaluru–Tirunelveli Express, Rameswaram–Mangaluru Express, Kollam–Ernakulam MEMU, Thiruvananthapuram–Mangaluru Antyodaya Express, Kannur–Kozhikode Passenger and the Palakkad–Kannur Express.
Meanwhile, the Mangaluru–Kannur Express was extended to Palakkad, the Bengaluru–Kannur Express to Kozhikode, and the Thiruvananthapuram–Madurai Amrita Express was extended to Rameswaram.
