Thiruvananthapuram: In a relief to many, the deadline for mustering the state’s yellow and pink ration cardholders has been extended to November 5. Bedridden patients and children will be provided the facility to complete mustering at home.

Minister for Food and Civil Supplies G R Anil stated that all priority category individuals will be given time to complete ration card mustering, noting that 83.67 percent of those in the pink category have already completed the process.

The deadline extension was given as around 16 percent of priority ration cardholders in the state are yet to complete mustering. The Minister added that Kerala ranks among the top five states leading in the mustering process completion.

Initially, the mustering process for priority cardholders was scheduled to start on September 18 and end on October 8. However, only 80 percent of cardholders had completed mustering by then, leading to an extension until October 25. With 16 percent still remaining, the deadline was extended again to November 5.

This e-KYC (electronic-Know Your Customer) update for yellow and pink ration cardholders was initiated in accordance with the Central Government’s directive following the Supreme Court’s order.
