Kerala rail alert: Eight Kottayam trains diverted via Alappuzha; MEMU cancelled

Thiruvananthapuram: Due to bridge construction work between Chengannur and Mavelikkara railway stations, changes have been made to the services of several trains operating via Kottayam on March 14 and 15.

Ernakulam MEMU cancelled

The Kollam–Ernakulam MEMU (No. 66310) scheduled for March 14 has been cancelled.

Trains diverted via Alappuzha

On March 14, the following trains departing from Thiruvananthapuram will be diverted via Alappuzha.

  • Chennai Superfast Express
  •  Shri Ganganagar Express
  •  Bengaluru Express
  •  Malabar Express
  •  Rameswaram Amrita Express
  • Mangaluru Express (No. 16347).

In addition, the Kanyakumari–Dibrugarh Vivek Express and the Thiruvananthapuram North–Nilambur Road Rajya Rani Express will also travel via Alappuzha. Long-distance trains have been granted stops at Alappuzha and Ernakulam Junction, while others will stop at Cherthala.

Partially cancelled services

The Madurai–Guruvayur Express will terminate its service at Kollam on March 14 and will depart from Kollam back to Madurai on March 15. The Nagercoil–Kottayam Express will run only as far as Kayamkulam on March 14. The Chennai–Thiruvananthapuram Superfast Express, which terminates at Kottayam on March 13, will commence its return journey to Chennai from Kottayam on March 14.
