Only 3 Kerala PSUs get Diamond status as per revised norms 2022

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala's Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) has classified 31 state Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) according to the revised norms set for 2022. Only three PSUs have been awarded Diamond status: Kerala Minerals and Metals Limited (KMML), Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC), and Kerala State Backward Classes Development Corporation Ltd (KSBCDC).

Kerala Medical Services Corporation Limited (KMSCL) won the Gold status. Malabar Cements bagged Silver, and Travancore Titanium of Thiruvananthapuram bagged the Bronze.

This is the first time that BPE has classified PSUs according to the revised norms. In the first phase, 31 institutions, whose audit was completed till 2021-22 and submitted their details, were considered. As many as 124 PSUs, except KSRTC, KSEB and Water Authority, will be classified under this exercise.

Institutions were classified earlier in 2009. This time, as per the recommendation of the expert committee, seven factors were considered: assets, employee income, sales, financial investment, profitability, productivity, and social impact. It was also decided to classify them as Diamond (A), Gold (B), Silver (C), and Bronze (D) according to the score they get.

A score of 80 and above will earn a 'Diamond', while 60 to 79 is Gold, 40 to 59 is Silver, and below 40 is Bronze.

Silver: Travancore Cochin Chemicals Limited, Kerala State Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Kerala State Coir Corporation Ltd., Kerala State Cashew Development Corporation,  Kerala State Women's Development Corporation Ltd., Norka Roots, Rehabilitation Plantation Ltd., Oil Palm India Ltd..

Bronze: 

Steel Industries Kerala Limited, Travancore Titanium Products Limited, Steel and Industrial Forgings Limited, Keltron Component Complex Ltd, Traco Cable, Autokast Ltd, Kerala Clays & Ceramics Products Ltd, Kerala Ceramics Limited, United Electrical Industries Limited, Kerala Tourism Infrastructure Limited, Kerala State Development Corporation for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes Ltd., CADCO Ltd., Hanveev, Handicrafts Development Corporation of Kerala Ltd., ODEPC, Kerala State Minerals Development Corporation, State Farming Corporation of Kerala, Vazhakulam Agro & Fruit Pro. Co.Ltd.
