Thiruvananthapuram: CPM leader Cherian Philip informed his reluctance to assume office of vice chairman in Khadi Board. As he is busy with the work of ‘Adiyozhukkukal’, a book on modern political history, he could not take charge in Khadi Board, Cherian posted on his Facebook page.

The state government suggested this position following the resignation of vice chairperson Shobhana George.

Though he wished to write the continuation of the historical text ‘Kaal Noottandu’ published 40 years back, he could not accomplish it as he was busy in politics. History cannot be written with creativity. It demands intense research for data collection and assemblage. Newspapers have to be studied to know the political developments of each period and incessant meetings with political leaders, mediapersons and community leaders also have to be undertaken. At least two years of research is compulsory and it is difficult to carry out research work and perform duties at Khadi board together, wrote Cherian Philip.

Cherian Philip was the co-ordinator of Nava Kerala Mission of the first Pinarayi Vijayan ministry.
