Kerala Police to issue notice to actor Shine Tom Chacko; AMMA to hold meeting

Kochi: Police have decided to serve a notice to Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko in connection with a drug raid at a luxury hotel in Kochi the other day, during which the actor was seen fleeing the scene. The notice is expected to be handed over to him today.

Authorities are seeking an explanation from Shine regarding his sudden escape during the narcotics inspection, and his suspected departure from the state, which has raised suspicions. However, speaking to the media, Narcotics ACP Abdul Salam clarified that since no formal case has yet been registered against the actor, there is no immediate need to apprehend him outside the state. Further steps will be taken after consultations with senior officers, he added.

AMMA and Film Chamber steps in

Meanwhile, the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) and the Film Chamber of Commerce are reportedly preparing to convene an urgent meeting on Monday to discuss disciplinary action. The film fraternity has come under increasing pressure following a formal complaint by actor Vincy Aloshious, and the matter is also expected to be taken up by the team of the film ‘Soothravakyam’ on Monday.

Investigators have supposedly traced Shine’s current location to Pollachi in Tamil Nadu, based on the last tower location of his mobile phone. Earlier, police had conducted searches in Kochi and Thrissur, but were unable to locate the actor at the time.

Sources further revealed that after fleeing from the initial hotel during the raid, Shine had checked into another luxury hotel in Kochi, and later left the premises by taxi — movements that have reportedly been confirmed through surveillance footage and witness accounts.

Interestingly, despite growing questions over his whereabouts, the actor has remained active on social media. Shine continues to post film posters, memes, and even news reports related to the incident on his official Instagram account, suggesting a deliberate effort to maintain public visibility amid mounting controversy.

The situation remains under close scrutiny as the film industry and law enforcement weigh their next steps in the controversial incident.
