An investigation has been launched following a complaint submitted to the Kerala Police Chief, demanding action against those sharing misleading AI-generated videos on social media. The complaint, which referred to the video featured in Mathrubhumi’s Wednesday report titled ‘Don't believe everything you see. It’s the AI trick’, was filed by a resident of Ponkunnam. The Kerala Police Chief has assigned the ADGP to take urgent action, and the complaint has been forwarded to the Kottayam District Police Chief for further inquiry.

The video in question, reportedly created using a Google tool, combines text, voice, and movement, and contains obscene language. The complaint states that its circulation through visual media sends a dangerous message to society and demands the video's removal.

The complainant also expressed concern that such videos could mislead children and the general public into believing they are real.

Action will be taken: District Police Chief

"The source of the video will be traced and further action will be taken. In the era of AI, even more serious problems may emerge. Social media is flooded with such videos. There is little chance of such misleading trends in print media, but social media exhibits a dangerous tendency," noted A Shahul Hameed, District Police Chief, Kottayam.
