Extra rice for white card holders for Onam

Alappuzha: This Onam, white ration card (non-priority) holders will also be provided extra rice. The white card holders will get 10 kg of rice in September. The rate is Rs 10.90 per kilo. 

The blue card owners will be provided with an additional 10 kg per card besides the normal two kg ration allocation. Regular ration will be charged at Rs 4 per kg and additional ration will be given at the rate of Rs.10.90 per kg. 

There is no change in the share of other category card holders.

The combination billing has been reinstated except for the usual allocation for the blue card holders. Hence, the cardholders will get the rice variety of their choice. 

Meanwhile, the ration distribution for the month of August concluded on Saturday. Due to the non-cooperation of door-step distributors, the rice reached some taluks very late. Therefore, requests for extension of the delivery date were made. However, the same was not considered. 

The ration distribution for the month of September will start on Tuesday.
