Kerala not the only state paying 25% of land acquisition cost for NH development: V Muraleedharan

New Delhi: The union minister for state V Muraleedhran on Friday targeted Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan over his claim on land acquisition for NH development.
According to Muraleedhran, CM’s claim that Kerala is the only state to pay 25 per cent for land acquisition for NH development is wrong. To corroborate his claim, he referred to the payments made by the states like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Orissa for NH development. He pointed out that these state governments have been paying 30 to 50 per cent for various NH development projects.
“Kerala is paying 25 per cent for land acquisition and not highway construction. The construction cost of NH has been fully borne by National Highways Authority of India,” he said.
He alleged that some are campaigning that the state government is bearing the cost of NH construction.
State’s share of land acquisition cost is met through Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board.
