Kochi: Expressing concerns on the transparency of the procedures to be followed for bringing the child from Andhra Pradesh, the parents of the missing child Anupama S Chandran and Ajith Kumar have sent a detailed mail to TV Anupama, Director of Women and Child Development Department and the Chairman of Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (KSCPCR).

Reportedly, Anupama and Ajith along with the members of solidarity committee will meet the official on Friday.

“The General Secretary of Kerala State Child Welfare Council, Shiju Khan, was entrusted with the task of bringing the child from Andhra Pradesh. Entrusting the task with a person like him, who faces allegations over his involvement in the case, raises questions on the intention behind the order,” said Ajith.

The order was issued by Adv N Sunanda, Chairperson of Child Welfare Committee, who received flak in the beginning over their apathy in ensuring justice for Anupama and Ajith.

Chances are very high to have malpractices throughout the process, said Usha, Convenor of Anupama and Ajith Solidarity Committee.

“The Child Welfare Committee should have been dissolved and the investigation had to be handed over to an independent body. The order issued now is a farce to convince the court that they have done something, as the court to convene on Saturday.”

KV Manoj Kumar, Chairman of KSCPCR, told mathrubhumi.com that it was on the basis of Commission's direction, CWC ordered to bring the baby back.

“The Commission will look into their concerns to take adequate measures. However, the Commission is not an appellate authority of CWC. What we can do is issue guidelines to be followed during the process of bringing the baby back. The Commission will definitely monitor the process throughout to ensure transparency and thus in turn justice to Anupama and Ajith,” said Manoj Kumar.

Shiju Khan, however, was not willing to disclose the details of their journey to Andhra Pradesh to bring the baby back. “I cannot disclose any of the details now. Since this is an inter-state issue, a whole lot of procedures have to be cleared before charting the journey. More details of our mission can be disclosed later,” said Shiju Khan.
