Kerala to get third Vande Bharat Express: New service sanctioned between Ernakulam and Bengaluru

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala is set to welcome its third Vande Bharat Express, with a new service sanctioned between Ernakulam and Bengaluru, passing through Thrissur and Palakkad, BJP State President Rajeev Chandrasekhar announced on Tuesday.
He shared the update via a Facebook post, expressing gratitude to the Central Government for approving the much-demanded route. He noted that this new service addresses a long-standing demand from the Malayali community working in Bengaluru, especially in the IT sector.
"This matter was brought to the attention of Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw ji a month ago. I thank him for the prompt and positive decision," he wrote.
According to Chandrasekhar, the train service is expected to begin by mid-November, offering much-needed relief on a route that is typically overcrowded during festivals and holidays. He pointed out that passengers often face soaring travel costs due to the lack of sufficient rail connectivity between Kerala and Bengaluru.
Highlighting the significance of the new service, he added:
"The new Vande Bharat will be a great relief for Malayalis in Bengaluru."
He also reiterated his appreciation for the Centre’s continued efforts to support Kerala’s infrastructure:
"I once again thank the Central Government for taking favourable decisions keeping in mind the comprehensive development of Kerala."
