Kerala woman and son found dead at residence; Investigation underway in Thrissur

Thrissur (Kerala): A 30-year-old woman and her five-year-old son were found dead inside their residence in Ambalakkavu on Tuesday, police said. The deceased have been identified as Shilpa (30) and her son Akshayajith (5).

According to police, the child was found lying on the bed inside a room, while the woman was discovered hanging nearby. Investigators suspect that the mother may have taken her own life after killing the child, though the exact cause of death will be confirmed only after post-mortem examination.

Shilpa’s husband, who told police he was unwell and resting in another room, reportedly found the bodies when the room remained locked for an unusually long time in the morning.

“A detailed forensic examination and post-mortem will determine the cause and sequence of events,” a senior police officer said.

Police have registered a case, and an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances that led to the deaths.
