Kerala MEC-7 row: Samastha president takes aim at PMA Salam’s endorsement of Kanthapuram’s comment
Kozhikode: Syed Jifri Muthukoya Thangal, president of Samastha Kerala Jem-Iyyathul Ulama, indirectly criticised Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) state general secretary P.M.A. Salam for supporting Sunni leader Kanthapuram A.P. Aboobacker Musliar's remarks on MEC-7.
Jifri Thangal, head of the state’s largest body of traditional Islamic scholars, accused those backing Kanthapuram of pursuing selfish interests and political motives.
“Supporters of Kanthapuram’s stance on women have ridiculed similar edicts issued by other religious leaders, including Samastha,” he said, calling out the double standards.
