The United Democratic Front (UDF) is set to govern Mavelikara Municipality on its own this term. In the previous election, all three fronts had won an equal number of seats, and the UDF had governed with KV Sreekumar, an independent candidate, appointed as chairman. This time, the UDF has won a clear majority by securing 15 of the total 28 seats.

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) finished second, winning eight seats compared to nine in the previous election. The Left Democratic Front (LDF) suffered a major setback, finishing third with only four seats, down from nine in the last term.

An independent candidate has also won one seat in this election. Sajini John, the candidate from the seventh ward, emerged victorious. She is the wife of sitting councillor Binu.
