Kerala logs 1,193 new COVID cases, 1,034 recoveries

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala reported 1,193 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, informed the health department in a press release. The test positivity rate was recorded at 4.34 per cent.

The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Ernakulam-187,Kottayam-175, Thiruvananthapuram-145, Thrissur-119, Kozhikode-99, Kollam-90, Pathanamthitta-76, Idukki-73, Kannur-62,  Alappuzha- 53, Wayanad- 41,Malappuram- 32, Palakkad-29 and Kasaragod- 12.

A total of 27,465 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.

24,100 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 23,272 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 828 people are in hospitals.124 people were taken to hospitals on Tuesday.

Among the 8,064 active Covid cases reported, only 9.6 per cent of patients are admitted to hospitals/field hospitals.

Three deaths were reported within the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, the health department reported 15 deaths that are newly certified as Covid-19 deaths based on the revised rules. Apart from this, 54 more deaths recorded late due to the delay in obtaining the documents were also added to the list of COVID deaths. With this, the death toll climbed to 66,958 in the state.

Five among the new patients were returned from outside the state.1,128 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 36 patients remains unidentified. 24 health workers also tested positive for COVID-19.

Meanwhile, 1,034 recoveries were also reported in the state.

The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram- 203 , Kollam- 72, Pathanamthitta-71, Alappuzha-39, Kottayam-105, Idukki- 85, Ernakulam-213, Thrissur- 79, Palakkad- 34, Malappuram- 35, Kozhikode- 20, Wayanad- 27, Kannur- 37 and Kasaragod-14.

64,47,225 people were recovered from the disease so far.
