LLB entrance exam in Malayalam: Kerala approves bilingual format from next academic year

Thiruvananthapuram: Students aspiring to pursue law in Kerala will be able to take LLB entrance examinations in Malayalam from the next academic year, with the state government approving a bilingual question paper format in Malayalam and English.
The decision was taken following a directive from Higher Education Minister Roji M John, based on students' demands and the state's mother tongue policy, according to an official statement.
Malayalam question papers for law aspirants
The move followed a representation submitted by Malayalam Aikya Vedi, a state-based organisation, seeking question papers in Malayalam for LLB entrance examinations.
The bilingual format is expected to make the entrance examination more accessible to Malayalam-speaking students seeking admission to law courses.

English version to prevail in case of discrepancies
The government is considering measures to ensure accuracy in translation while maintaining the confidentiality of the examination.
A panel of legal experts may be set up to oversee the translation process, while modern software systems could be used to address technical challenges, the statement said.
The examination prospectus will clarify that the English version of a question will be treated as final if there is any discrepancy or ambiguity in the Malayalam translation.
