‘What Have You Gained?’, Kerala High Court lashes out at LDF and UDF for calling hartal in Wayanad

Kochi: The Kerala High Court has heavily criticised both the LDF and UDF for organising a hartal in Wayanad on Tuesday. The court remarked that the situation has reached a point where even God has no idea about what is happening in "God’s Own Country." The hartal was held in protest against the central government’s decision not to declare the Mundakkai-Chooralmala landslide tragedy a national disaster.
While considering a suo motu case regarding the reconstruction of Wayanad, the High Court sharply criticized both the LDF and UDF, asking, “What have you gained through the hartal?”
Kerala, a popular tourism destination, is known as "God’s Own Country," the court noted. However, it pointed out that even God would not know what is happening here. The court questioned the ruling party’s justification for calling the hartal and noted that the opposition's assurance of not holding flash hartals had not been honored.
The court also directed the Advocate General to advise the government against organizing any future hartals. Additionally, the court instructed the AG to inform the opposition of the seriousness of the issue.
