It is enough to end political violence, not politics on campuses: Kerala HC

Kochi: In a major development, the Kerala High Court observed that student politics need not be abolished, but political violence within campuses should end. The court remarked that just as religions are not banned for crimes committed in their name, student politics should not face a blanket ban either. This observation was made while hearing a public interest litigation seeking a ban on student politics.
The court stated that political activities could be conducted democratically within campuses. However, instead of banning politics outright, measures should be taken to prevent violence on campuses.
The High Court will consider the petition again on January 23, following which a final verdict will be delivered.
