Kerala HC bars political party representatives from temple administration committees

Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Tuesday barred the inclusion of political party representatives in the administration committees of temples under the Malabar Devaswom Board.
The court made this ruling while adjudicating the plea against electing CPM local leaders as members of the administrative committee of Pookoottukalikavu Temple in Ottappalam, Palakkad, under the Malabar Devaswom Board.
The court made it clear that the ruling applies to all temples under the Board.
The court dismissed the argument that DYFI is not a political organisation. The court pointed out that those involved in active politics should not be appointed as non-hereditary trustees of temples.
