Kerala HC asks CPM district secretary to refrain from criticising collector, amicus curiae

Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Tuesday directed the CPM Idukki district secretary to refrain from making public criticisms regarding the case over alleged illegal constructions in Munnar. The court asked district secretary CV Varghese not to raise criticisms against the district collector or amicus curiae as they were implementing the court order.
The division bench also directed that the court should be informed in writing of what the secretary wished to say and further instructed the district administration to complete the survey procedures in connection with the Idukki land issue within two months.
The court also directed to produce the list of those who carried out illegal construction activities in Munnar despite the issuance of stop memo as per the court order.
Earlier, the high court had halted the construction of a CPM party office in Santhanpara, Idukki without obtaining the NOC of local bodies and the revenue department. However, the construction activities allegedly continued in spite of the court ban leading to contempt proceedings. Varghese claimed that construction was stopped immediately when party received the order.
