Kerala govt to revise salary of private hospital staff after a gap of five years

Thiruvananthapuram: After a hiatus of five years, the labor department has decided to revise the remunerative wages of the staff of private hospitals in the state. A committee, chaired by the labour commissioner and comprising an additional labour commissioner as the convenor, has been set up to decide on the minimum wages. A 28-member committee consisting of management representatives from hospitals and medical colleges has also been constituted for the purpose. 

Although the state government issued a notification determining the minimum wages of private hospital staff in 2018, it has not yet been implemented in various hospitals. 

As per the notification, wages were decided after categorising employees as office-general, nursing, and paramedical staff. Furthermore, private hospitals were categorised on the basis of facilities, and a fixed percent of additional allowance was also decided by the government.
