Kerala Govt offers job to son of Kottayam Medical College collapse victim

Thiruvananthapuram: In a compassionate gesture, the Kerala government has appointed Navaneeth, son of Bindu Visruthan — who tragically lost her life in the Kottayam Medical College building collapse — to a government job.
According to an official order, Navaneeth, a qualified engineering graduate, has been appointed as a Third Grade Overseer in the maintenance wing of the Travancore Devaswom Board. He will assume duties at the Assistant Engineer’s Office in Vaikom, as confirmed by Kerala Devaswom Minister V N Vasavan.
"With the job appointment, the LDF government is ensuring the family's security," said the minister.
He also noted that the government had earlier constructed and handed over a new house to the bereaved family.
The tragedy occurred on July 3, 2025, when part of an unused building at Kottayam Medical College collapsed, fatally injuring Bindu after being trapped under the debris for over two hours.
