Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan had sought clarification from the government on the names it recommended for the position of Information Commissioner in the state.
Though Khan approved the appointment of B. Hari Nair as Chief Information Commissioner, he returned the names of three candidates for the post of Information Commissioner. Khan had received several complaints against candidates recommended by the state government.
The candidates were selected by a panel comprising of Kerala Chief Minister and Opposition leader. Following this, the panel came up with the names of T.K. Radhakrishnan, M. Sreekumar and Sonichan P. Joseph.
Shortly after Raj Bhavan received their names, numerous complaints were levelled against them, which included charges of financial wrongdoings. The Governor also received a complaint alleging that the government had violated the guidelines set by the Supreme Court when coming up with the names.
