Kerala govt increases KEAM fees, scraps combined applications for multiple streams

Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: The Kerala government has increased the application fee for the Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical (KEAM) entrance examination and removed the option that allowed candidates to apply for multiple courses using a single application.
With the revised system, students must now submit separate applications and pay separate fees for each course, raising the overall cost for those applying to more than one stream.
New KEAM application fees
As per the revised fee structure, candidates will have to pay:
- Engineering: Rs 925
- BPharm: Rs 925
- Architecture: Rs 650
- Medical: Rs 650
For Scheduled Caste candidates, the fee is Rs 400 each for Engineering and BPharm, and Rs 650 each for Architecture and Medical. (For detailed fee structure details see notification)
Scheduled Tribe candidates are exempted from paying any application fee.
Separate fee for each course
Candidates applying for more than one subject will now have to pay the application fee separately for each course. The earlier facility of submitting a combined application for multiple streams has been withdrawn, increasing the financial burden on students.
How the fee system worked earlier
In previous years, candidates applying separately for Engineering and BPharm had to pay Rs 875 each. However, they could apply for both together by paying Rs 1,125.
Similarly, Architecture and Medical applications earlier cost Rs 625 each when applied for separately.
Students were also allowed to apply for Engineering, BPharm and Architecture together by paying Rs 1,125, while a single application for all four courses was available at Rs 1,300.
