Thiruvananthapuram: In a shocking revelation in the Venjaramoodu family murder case, Shemi, mother of the accused Affan, said her son uttered words of remorse while attempting to strangle her. “Affan strangled my neck and said, ‘Umma, forgive me’,” Shemi recalled while speaking about the day of the incident.

“I don’t clearly remember where exactly I was at that moment. I didn’t say anything in response,” she added.

Shemi further said that Affan then told her, “Let me call Farsana (his girlfriend), we’ll take you to the hospital,” to which she simply responded with an “Okay”. “After that, I don’t remember anything,” she said.

She also revealed that Affan had taken money through various loan applications and was under a debt of only Rs 25 lakh. “He asked for money several times. I gave him whatever I had,” Shemi said, detailing the financial stress her son was under.
