KSEB hits consumers with another surcharge increase: Here’s how much more you’ll pay

Thiruvananthapuram: Electricity consumers in Kerala are facing another increase in surcharge rates, with the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) announcing a hike of seven paise per unit for the month of April. The board explained that this surcharge increase is necessary to cover an additional liability incurred in February.

According to KSEB, the additional liability for February amounted to Rs 14.38 crore, and the surcharge has been raised to address this financial shortfall. This is the second time this year that the surcharge has been increased.

The continuous increase in surcharge rates has added to the financial burden on consumers, who are already grappling with the impact of earlier hikes in electricity rates.
