Codeword ‘point’, rate ₹3,000 per half gram: Kerala de-addiction centre staffer held with MDMA; sold drugs to patients

Koratty: A 25-year-old man employed at a private de-addiction centre has been arrested for possessing MDMA. The accused, identified as Vivek alias Dooli Vivek, a resident of Chettarikkal in Koratty, was arrested with 4.5 grams of the synthetic drug. His arrest was made by a team headed by Chalakudy Range Excise Inspector C.U. Harish.
Vivek was reportedly active in drug distribution in areas including Koratty, Chirangara, and Chettarikkal. He has been working at a private de-addiction centre located in Karukutty.
He was taken into custody after the de-addiction centre’s authorities reportedly found drugs were being sold to patients, prompting an investigation.
Excise officials revealed that Vivek was connected to a drug network based in Angamaly. He was allegedly using the code word ‘point’ to carry out the transactions. Drugs were being sold at a price of ₹3,000 for every half gram.
Investigators also stated that the accused had previous links to cases involving drug trafficking and assault
