New Covid-19 regulations impractical: Traders

Thiruvananthapuram: Traders in Kerala are wary about the practicality of the new Covid-19 regulations.

The government order released on August 5 says that only people “who have taken at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine before two weeks or who are in possession of RTPCR negative certificate taken within 72 hours before or who is in possession of COVID-19 positive results more than a month old” are allowed to visit the shops.

The police did not inspect shops on Thursday.

Carrying test results is impossible, traders say. How can a customer who comes for buying things worth Rs. 10 or Rs. 50 conduct test worth Rs. 500, they ask.

Some markets were not opened on Thursday as the street vendors are yet to receive the vaccine.
