Kerala cop shoots himself dead at police camp

Malappuram: A police officer was killed after allegedly shooting himself at the Special Operations Police Camp in Areekode here on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Vineeth (36), hailing from Vythiri, Wayanad. 

The incident happened at around 9:30 PM when Vineeth was found with a gunshot wound to the head. 

His colleagues rushed him to a private hospital in Areekode, where his death was confirmed. According to his fellow officers, the cause of his death is believed to be mental stress due to the denial of leave. He is survived by his wife, who is three months pregnant, and a son.
