Kerala Chief Secretary, DGP set to retire on June 30

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala’s top two bureaucrats—Chief Secretary VP Joy and State Police Chief Anil Kant, are set to retire on June 30.
Home Department Additional Chief Secretary K Venu is likely to assume office as the new Chief Secretary.
On the other hand, Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) needs to convene a meeting to select a new State Police Chief. The panel of potential candidates is prepared based on an eight-member list handed over to the Centre by Kerala Government. The names include Police Headquarters ADGP K Padmakumar, Crime Branch head Dr Shaik Darvesh Saheb, Intelligence ADGP TK Vinod Kumar, Coastal Police ADGP Sanjeeb Kumar Patjoshi, Beverage Corporation MD Yogesh Gupta, CRPF Special Director Nidhin Agarwal and Intelligence Bureau Additional Directors Harinath Mishra, and Rawada Chandrashekhar.
VP Joy has accompanied Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on his foreign visit to the US. He is expected to attend the UPSC meeting. Therefore, UPSC officials have to wait until he returns to Kerala.
