State Budget focuses on projects for women and children
Thiruvananthapuram: Finance Minister Thomas Isaac declared that his budget aims to create a safe environment for women and children. He announced that aid for Nirbhaya homes will be increased to Rs 10 crore.
Anganwadis without proper infrastructure and anganwadis without children will be combined together and converted as model centres.
Safe rooms will be provided for women travellers in working women’s hostels.
Special arrangement will be made at selected anganwadis for differently abled children. Smart anganwadi project will be implemented.
In order to market products made by women, trade centre will be opened at gender parks.
“Government aims to remove all the restrictions, those that could be visible and hidden, enforced over women,” said Finance Minister.
The budget allocated Rs 1509 crore for women friendly projects.
