BMW, Harley-Davidson theft in Kerala takes dramatic twist as family refuses complaint

Kozhikode, Kerala: What initially appeared to be a high-profile vehicle theft involving a BMW car, a Harley-Davidson motorcycle and a scooter from a house in Vadakara took an unexpected turn after the family informed police that no case was required.

The incident had prompted a police investigation by the Vadakara Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP). However, the probe was called off after the family said the vehicles had been taken by a close relative and that they did not wish to file a complaint.

According to reports, the family has also received information about the whereabouts of the vehicles.

The incident came to light on Thursday morning when a family member returned home to find the front door open and the BMW, Harley-Davidson motorcycle and scooter missing. The keys had reportedly been taken from a locker inside the house, while the motorcycle had been parked indoors.

Police also found that the CCTV DVR had gone missing. Since the cupboards had been opened using keys and there were no signs of forced entry, investigators suspected that someone closely connected to the household was involved.

An attempt was also allegedly made to take away a Skoda car parked outside the house, but it could not be driven away because its battery was dead. The officials found that the property's main gate had been opened using a remote control.

An employee who looks after the family's horse told police he had noticed an Innova car parked in the compound during the night but assumed it belonged to a relative. Police also received information that a man was seen riding away on the Harley-Davidson motorcycle around 6.30 am.

CCTV footage from a nearby area later showed a young man riding the Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Later, the family informed police that the vehicles had been taken by a relative and that they did not wish to pursue legal action. Following the decision, police withdrew the investigation.
