Kerala Assembly may allow citizens to ask questions: Speaker Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan

Thiruvananthapuram: Along with MLAs, the people who elected them will also have an opportunity to voice their opinions in the Legislative Assembly in the near future, Speaker Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan said. He pointed out that as in some foreign legislatures, members of the public should also be given an opportunity to ask questions. He added that consultations would be held with experts before taking further steps in this regard.

The Speaker was inaugurating a new studio complex, and a voice acting course in Thiruvananthapuram Press Club Institute of Journalism in collaboration with Sound Park Academy. Thiruvanchoor went on to say that audio versions of the books available at the Legislative Assembly that are almost 138 years old will be released soon. He said that several initiatives are being planned to make the Legislative Assembly more people-centric.

The function was chaired by the Press Club President S. Sreekesh. Speeches were delivered by Prof. Aliyar, Sound Park Academy Director Balakrishnan Periya, I. J. T Director P V Murugan, P. A. Salim, Press Club Secretary P R Praveen and Treasurer Vineesh.
