Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: The Kerala government has increased the compensation for families of people who die due to snake bites, bee stings, or wasp attacks. The amount has been raised from ₹2 lakh to ₹4 lakh. This help will be given whether the incident happens inside or outside forest areas. The money will come from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF).

There is no change in the ₹10 lakh compensation for people who lose their lives in wild animal attacks. Out of this, ₹4 lakh comes from the SDRF and ₹6 lakh from the Forest Department.

Families of these victims will also receive ₹10,000 from the SDRF to help with funeral expenses. The support also includes money for medical treatment of those injured and for any household items lost during animal attacks.

The State Disaster Response Fund will also cover the full cost of search and rescue operations. If people need to be moved from disaster-prone areas, the fund will pay for evacuation as well.
