Kerala ADGP Ajith Kumar faces suspension over SIT report

Thiruvananthapuram: Senior police officer ADGP Ajith Kumar faces suspension as the Kerala government weighs disciplinary action over a Special Investigation Team (SIT) report into allegations that he obstructed a police investigation.

Ajith Kumar has been accused of interfering with the investigation into allegations that members of former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's personal security team assaulted KSU and Youth Congress leaders during a protest at the Nava Kerala Sadas event in Alappuzha in 2023.

According to sources, the SIT recorded statements alleging that the investigation into the assault case was derailed. However, it is understood that the team was unable to gather sufficient corroborative evidence to conclusively establish the allegations.
