Complaint against Tomin J Thachankary: police say complainant died 7 years ago

Thiruvananthapuram: A complaint in the name of a deceased person was filed against DGP Tomin J Thachankary whose name figures in the shortlist of state police chief. Union Public Service Commission, the department in charge of preparing the list of police chief, received the complaint against the official.
The complaint was filed in the name of Edakochi native KT Thomas. But a police investigation revealed that Thomas died 7 years back.
It is examined that the complaint was lodged as part of the group fight between the high-level officials in the police.
The complaint carried a detailed explanation of the vigilance case against Thachankary and the legal actions faced by him. It is reported that UPSC handed over the complaint to the state chief secretary. Later, the chief secretary forwarded it to the state police chief for an immediate inquiry.
The investigation revealed that the complainant KT Thomas of Nilathil House at Vathuruthi in Kochi is no more. A man named Gaffur is currently residing in the address. Chief Secretary informed the matter to UPSC.
Police received some clue on the complaint which was in DTP format. The officials suspect that the complaint against Thachankary was moved from the police department itself.
UPSC will select three officials from the list of 9 officials shortlisted by the state government. From this list, the state government can appoint the new state police chief.
