UDF releases manifesto, promises welfare pension of Rs 3000

Thiruvananthapuram: UDF has released the election manifesto for the upcoming assembly polls. Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala has stated that UDF is bound to implement the declarations in the manifesto.

Nyay scheme is the highlight of the manifesto. Welfare pension will be increased to Rs 3000. Welfare commission will be formed.

A special law to protect the traditions of the Sabarimala lord Ayyappa temple and a Peace and Harmony department on the model of Rajasthan,has also been promised by the UDF.

Reaching out to the vast majority of women voters, the front has assured a two years age relaxation for mothers appearing for examinations for government jobs.

Housewives aged between 40-60, who donot come under the Nyay scheme, the minimum income guarantee programme launched by the Congress in 2019,would be entitled for the Rs 2000 monthly pension.

Free food kits to those who had been affected by COVID-19 and no bill hospitals are among the otherschemes of the front, Benny Behanan MP, chairman of the manifesto committee said.

The ruling LDF had also announced pension for homemakers and had hiked the social security pension to Rs 2,500 from the present Rs 1600

Highlights of the manifesto are as follows:

  • Welfare pension will be increased to Rs 3000.
  • Welfare pension revision commission in the model of pay commission.
  • Nyay scheme for providing monthly aid of Rs 6000 to underprivileged families, annual aid of Rs 72,000.
  • Monthly aid of Rs 2000 to housewives who belong to 40-60 age group and are not beneficiaries of Nyay scheme.
  • Fuel subsidy to autorickshaw, taxi and fishing boats from state tax.
  • 100 unit free electricity to all customers.
  • Free food kit with more items to more people.
  • House for 5 lakh people.
  • Karunya Arogya Suraksha Padhathi (KASP) will be resumed.
  • Special law to protect Sabarimala customs.
  • 5 kg free rice to all white ration card holders.
  • Forest Rights Act will be implemented completely.
  • House construction aid for people belong to SC/ST and fishing communities will be increased from Rs 4 lakh to Rs 6 lakh.
  • Special financial aid to differently abled for purchasing vehicles.
  • A department will be formed to maintain peace and harmony.
  • Minimum Support Price of Rs 250 for rubber and Rs 30 for paddy.
  • Light Metro will be implemented in Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram
  • Minimum wage of Rs 700 to workers
