Ganesh Kumar nullifies criticisms on KSRTC's move to rent space for liquor outlets

Kollam: MLA KB Ganesh Kumar has responded to those who voiced their criticism over KSRTC’s move to lease their building to the Beverages Corporation. Ganesh Kumar said that this kind of attitude is similar to the strike that was organised against the mobile phone towers in the state.
"KSRTC buses are lying dormant and the managing director is trying to find other sources of income. It is not right for the critics to denigrate when KSRTC tries to earn revenue through means other than ticket sales", he said.
“The Beverages shop is located inside Kottarakkara private bus stand. There are liquor shops at every airport. If liquor shops are moved into the KSRTC building, then the corporation will get the rent. No one has a problem when the same rent is given to private individuals,” he said.
“There are some people who oppose everything. There is a bar at the Kochi International Airport. Liquor shops are located at airports and restaurants in the Gulf countries. But nobody behaves indecently in the public or drive around under the influence of alcohol there. Similarly, the women in such places are not harmed or insulted.” he added.
Those who protested against mobile towers once are now complaining that their children are not getting proper network coverage to attend online classes. The same attitude can be seen in this case too, the MLA pointed out.
